Wolfgang Puck Express dining review

Wolfgang Puck Express - West Side - Downtown DisneyWolfgang Puck has two “counter” restaurants in Downtown Disney called Wolfgang Puck Express. One is located in the West Side, next to the Wolfgang Puck Grand Café and the other is in the Marketplace.

UPDATE: The West Side location was closed.

West Side

They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and a possibly the best quick service menu found at the “World.”

Wolfgang Puck Express is possibly better than most table restaurants at Disney – it’s really that good! You can dine on an assortment of gourmet salads, made fresh with local organic ingredients. The chopped Italian was easily made dairy free with arugula, radicchio, roasted fennel, cannellini beans, pepperoni, fresh oregano, chopped veggies, red onions and citrus shallot vinaigrette. We skipped the fresh shaved parmesan cheese.

Follow with tortilla soup (the BEST) or butternut squash soup. Sandwiches are made with barbecue chicken, chicken aioli or roasted chicken. They are all delicious. However, the pizzas are the best. We often order them for pickup to enjoy by the hotel pool since we can all find something fabulous to eat there. If you are ordering takeout, be sure you know which location you order from. It’s a long walk between them and parking is not always easy at Downtown Disney.

Another great thing about the Wolfgang Puck Express is they are included in the Disney Dining Plan as counter meals. This is fantastic!

But most important is their special food handling policy for food allergy patrons. Just like the Wolfgang Puck Grand Café and all of the Disney-owned restaurants, they truly understand food allergies. The personal attention the chef gave our daughter was incredible.

Marketplace

This Wolfgang Puck Express location is similar to the West Side location. They have the same menu and quality ingredients. However, the staff was not very accommodating on our last visit for dinner. As a counter restaurant, you order at a counter from a cashier. If you order food and indicate a food allergy, the cashier will alert the chef to visit your table. However, the cashier we dealt with didn’t seem to have any knowledge of food allergies, and kept offering food items that had dairy in them. It was a very uncomfortable situation, until we spoke to the chef who gave us a better feeling about dining there.

We will visit again on our next trip and provide an update. If you have a food allergy dining experience with this or any of the Wolfgang Puck locations, please comment below or send us your information here.

  1. For $87, I was very disappointed. Cashier assured my wife there were only three choices avail to her (gluten free). Times must have changed since thus original, rave review was written. They don’t even have gluten free salad dressings anymore.

    1. I’m really sorry that your experience wasn’t as spectacular as ours. But, we’ve never requested gluten-free items. We are a little over a week away from our next trip to Disney World and Wolfgang Puck is on our agenda. We’ll ask about gluten-free options, just to clarify.
